Rick Isenberg (he/him)

Licensed Professional Counselor in Ridgway, CO

Are you feeling stuck in your life? Are you ready for a change for the better? Then let me help you. I work with people struggling with trauma, issues from childhood, gender issues, sexual issues, codependence, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and grief. As a physician, I understand the challenge of complex medical problems. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, I work with those who feel alone, different, bullied, abandoned, and afraid. Let me help you heal.

My Background and Approach

I am trained as both a counselor and physician. I practiced OB/GYN for many years and have spent half my career in clinical research. In recent years, I have re-directed my career toward counseling and finally feel that I have arrived at doing the work I was meant to do. I love my work. I work with people who feel unfulfilled and dissatisfied; people who feel frustrated in their ability to connect with others or themselves; people who feel ashamed, inauthentic, blocked, or unable to live to their fullest potential. I believe in your ability to make a difference in your life and with your life; I have devoted my career to helping people like you. I look forward to working with you to help you recover from the adversity of your childhood, build a new sense of self, shift your beliefs about yourself and the world around you, find meaning in your life, and make the kind of choices that will help you grow and reach your goals. I want you to be all that you can be.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe in the fundamental human dignity of all people. I believe that people deserve respect, equal rights, and equal privileges, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, race, ethnicity, ability, faith, and age. I believe that everyone deserves a life of abundance, freedom, hope, and joy. I have devoted my career to help people overcome obstacles, grow to their fullest potential, and celebrate their truth and authenticity. I am an active member of the LGBTQ+ community locally and nationally. I am a member of the Mankind Project and active in the Jewish community. I have a loving partner who keeps me on my toes and helps me grow. I am blessed with four children and seven grandchildren who bring me great joy. I am an avid outdoorsman, hiker, backpacker, and biker who relishes wild and remote places. I live my life fully awake.
